Born on 28 January 1974 in Belgrade, Mr Spasojević graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade and went on to become a barrister.
As a Chevening Scholar he completed his MSc studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His MSc thesis was entitled European Integration through Regional Cooperation: The EU’s Stabilisation and Association Process and the Western Balkans.
He has published relevant articles in the academic journal Review of International Politics, and has been regularly writing for the Serbian leading daily newspapers Politika and Danas, as well as for the principal weekly news magazines NIN and Vreme.
In late 2000, Mr Spasojević joined the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he served as the Minister’s Chief of Staff.
In August 2004, he was appointed Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Serbia.
He briefly served as Junior Minister of Defence in 2007 to be promoted to Secretary of State for Defence in February 2008.
From January 2011 to July 2013 Mr Spasojević served as the Serbian Ambassador to Turkey.
From September 2013 until November 2015 he has been working in the private sector as a consultant to Tehno-progres Ltd.
He is fluent in English and understands Russian. He is married to Justine Anne and they have two daughters, Tara and Una.
The President of the Hellenic Republic bestowed upon Mr Spasojević the Medal of Honour in 2007. In 2009 the President of the Republic of Italy honoured him with Commander of the Order of the Star of Italian
